book about mastering info
Dear friends,I'm writing to let you know that my first book, Glut: Mastering InformationThrough the Ages, has just been published by Joseph Henry Press. The book is about, roughly, the history of information: exploring the wayspeople have collected, organized and shared their intellectual capital theyears. It delves into, among other things, early oral traditions, theinvention of writing, classical libraries, medieval alchemy, Victorianbibliography and early computer networks. Ultimately, the book is about therelationship between information technology and social change. If you'd like to find out more, feel free to peruse the book's Web site at:http://www.alexwright.org/glut/Finally, I hope you'll forgive the unseemly sales-iness of this message, butas a first-time author I'm largely responsible for getting the word outabout the book myself. Rest assured that I don't intend to make a habit outof spamming my friends. Thanks,Alex
